Blog Prompt 5/29/07 (I wish I could learn _____ because _____) and memorial day rant

Blog Prompt 5/29/07:
I wish I could learn SELF DISCIPLINE because I TOTALLY DONT GET STUFF DON'T BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE IT. Things with me fall to the wayside because I'm not always disciplined enough to carry through on them when I should. Now, that doesn't mean I don't keep promises, but what it DOES mean is that I don't always keep them as timely as I'd like to. I try to always meet my deadlines, but the problem is I get into committments that have deadlines and then can't formulate good plans and strategies to get those things done that DON'T have deadlines. Oh, I need to learn to get my tuts for my chat done BEFORE the chat....the poor ladies that come to my chat are always so forgiving with me about that. But, they're so fabulous they do great layouts with the step by step instructional during the chat. They're lovely that way.

*sigh*

I need discipline when it comes to weight loss plans. Not diets, I don't do diets. I like to eat to much. I do weightloss plans that work for me, not one hasn't worked, but I've never been disciplined enough to keep at one for more than a few weeks, never been disciplined enough to make it a lifestyle. Geez

I definitely need to learn and practice self discipline when it comes to house-cleaning. Trust me, you don't even wanna know dudes...you don't even wanna know.

The one thing (in my designing business) that no one needs to tell me I'm greatly disciplined in is how I handle my Creative Team. I really love those ladies. They're always so on the ball, and I never have to remind them of anything. That makes it incumbent on me (is that the right wording?) to make sure I always stay in touch with them. I always let them know everything that's going on with me designing wise. I involve them in what I do. I couldn't do it without those ladies behind me, having my back.

Now, my rant about Memorial Day:

What is wrong with this country that Memorial Day is not recognized as it should be anymore? Who are these people that have decided this would be a great day to sell bar be cue grills, flanks, steaks, patio sets and bathing suits? Where in "memorial" do we understand it to be a day to garner more customers through having sales in our BS stores and professions? What on Earth does MEMORIALIZING FALLEN SOLDIERS have to do with selling stuff at a lower price?

I'm glad to say that I didn't see a lot of that in this community among the designers (the sells and such), but how about ALL OF US get back to the Memorial in Memorial Day. If you're not sure what you can do to honor those that have fallen for OUR benefit, this site can help you. But, here is one thing, the LEAST THING:

Blog Prompt 5/16/07: List the 5 Things That Annoy You The Most:

1. Improper use of grammar...this stays the same no matter WHAT
2. When what I know is totally cute item doesn't sell like I think it would if it had a more established digidesigning name next to it. (I know, pity party, but you can't blame a gal lol)
3. The news in general, there's rarely anything positive in it these days. I didn't say NEVER, just RARELY.
4. Parents that don't take responsibility for their children's actions (not when kids are old enough, but when they're young enough that the parents can take a firm handle in it)
5. Hiding the coke/pepsi I'm drinking from dh. How JUVENILE is this? I can't believe I'm doing it. I'm so addicted!!! There's one in the door of the fridge now, between the cannister of pillsbury flaky jumbo buttered biscuits and covered by the bag of take-out condiment packages (yeah, why are we keeping THOSE?)

New Items:
I totally love this new mini kit, it's called Sorbet Bouquet and full of a grunged pastels look. It really rocks. It was actually part of a full sized kit, but I broke it down for this mini ($3.00), and a paper pack that will be coming out soon. Some of the papers just weren't really jibing for me all that well. I also put this smashing set of shinies in the store. It's a FAT FAT FAT pack of foil flowers with chipboard backing and center, and includes a stem for those that can't go without stem action lol. You also get 7 crayon overlays and 7 glitter overlays for each flower, and 1 of each for the stem, dude, that's a total of 108 bits (yea, it's only $2.50) and the foil is easily recolored too. Ohhh yeah baby!

Saturday 5/5/07 was FCD....in my home were mega comic book fans. Bob B_____ (the creator of Little Archie) was there at our comic book store. Not only did he sign 3 books for us, he ALSO did a sketch of Little Betty for me RIGHT ON THE SPOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm such a dip that I didn't post it, but I will soon....oh it's soo tight!

First, the blog prompt 5/7/07: What Do You Think About Ghosts:

Not sure how I should handle this, I am not a fan of ghosts. By any means. I think they should remain unseen and unheard ... but I guess that means we wouldn't really have them. People in my family have experience seeing ghosts, my daughter noelle is one of those, my mom is another, even dh has seen them (when he was a child)...he also lived near Amittyville (yep, THAT one).... I don't see them, nor do I want to. I have told dh that if he dies before I do, he needs to stay GONE.... Ghosts creep me out, the thought of them that is. I believe in spirits being in this plane however. My Christian self believes that when the body is dead, the soul should be asleep, but the bible has shown in at least one instance that I know of, that spirits of the dead CAN be raised. So, with that in mind, I'm fairly certain that they are around and do exist and do 'haunt' (the not so nice ones anyway. )

Weekend Update: This weekend we saw Spiderman III - it was TOTALLY ROCKIN!!! Admittedly, there was so much going on in the movie that it could possibly be overwhelming if you're not paying good close attention or if you aren't well versed in Spidey Knowledge...but beyond that, I think it rocked. We wanted to see it at the local IMAX theater, but it was sold out until 1:15 a.m. - so we settled for the regular screen. Next week it's IMAX BABY!!!! This just makes me pine away at the want for an updated Wonder Woman movie. What are these movie makers doing dragging their heels???? ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, Layout of the Day. My layout "Painting" was chosen as LOTD at Gottapixel Sunday. This is definitely one of my favorite LOs, not just because of the design, which I don't really think is all that special, but I love the content of it. I am sure it's going to look so FABULOUS when it's printed. Anyway, I'll share it with you guys here. I must admit though, I'm kinda bummed that it's not gotten very many comments one 'so-called' major website.... I shouldn't be, because I do LOVE the LO....but well....oh well.

This has to be the best way I’ve ever seen.What better way to get people to speak out against local injustices than to get them involved in the way you speak out against those injustices? I was so glad you both decided to stop and add to the this magnificent work of art. A painting that shows the hearts of the local people, sold for thousands in the name of fighting for what you believe is the RIGHT thing to do. I am so glad that you both took part in this, and even more happy that you understood the significance - at least on a basic level. This painting represents the hearts, minds and feelings of you ladies, at least in a small part, and will be seen and remembered for all those who’s voices are in it, and that includes the both you you. Conscious young ladies of mine. We love you both!
